Ethics of Archives and Records Management

Mark Farrell holds an MA in Ethics from DCU/MDI. He is a professional archivist and records manger and member of several professional associations including the Archives & Records Association and the Information & Records Management Society. In his professional role, he has developed archive and records management policies and procedures for a wide range of high profile organisations in both the public and private sectors.

His research addresses the extent to which Irish archive and records management legislation and practice adequately reflects ethical standards with regard to matters such as record creation, compliance, access to information, the balancing of the rights of government and citizens and associated issues of accountability, democracy and human rights.
