Jean-Paul Mosnier

Jean-Paul Mosnier is Senior Lecturer in the School of Physical Sciences at Dublin City University. He studied physics and chemistry at Université Pierre et Marie Curie in Paris, France, completing his doctoral thesis in 1986. He was appointed to the Faculty of NIHE Dublin (now DCU) in 1987. He has vast experience of teaching university Physics at all levels to both specialist and non-specialist students and was responsible for the development and accreditation of the BSc in Physics with Biomedical Sciences programme in 2007 which he chaired until 2016. Over the years, he has served on several DCU academic and management committees including Academic Council, Research Committee, Quality Committee, Disciplinary Committee, Faculty Health and Safety Committee. He has been actively researching the fields of laser and plasma applications and has published 125 papers in international journals on these topics, as well as several book chapters. He has been involved in many international research collaborations and carried out experiments at several large scale research facilities. His research has been variously funded by both national and European agencies. He has advised a number of doctoral students to graduation at DCU and examined PhD theses in Ireland, UK, Poland and India. He is an academic staff member of the Governing Authority having been elected by his peers in October 2016.
