Michael Burke

Mr Michael Burke is the Manager of Facilities & Associated Services in the Faculty of Science & Health. Originally educated by the Christian Brothers in Carlow, he later studied at the Institute of Technology Carlow; completed a chemistry degree at Dublin Institute of Technology and an MSc in Instrumental Analysis at Dublin City University. Michael worked for a number of years in the Agrichemical industry as a process chemist. Michael was Chief Technical Officer in the School of Chemical Sciences DCU for fourteen years and an Administrator in the Faculty of Science & Health for ten years. Michael's area of work covers a broad spectrum of disciplines and he served for many years as the Chair of both the Faculty Health & Safety Committee and the Biological Safety Committee. He is the current Radiological Protection Officer for the University. Michael has also been on the design team for many of the buildings in the Science Faculty, specialising in laboratory design. Michael is a member of the Governing Authority Risk Committee, the University Safety Steering Committee, and was appointed to Governing Authority in December 2016.
