Vito Moloney Burke Bio
Vito Moloney Burke is a Bachelor of Business Studies graduate who is currently President of DCU Students' Union.
Due to a passion for student engagement, Vito was heavily involved in many aspects of university life during his time as an undergraduate. Finding a passion for volunteering through the DCU Raising and Giving (RAG) Society, he served on the committee for the entirety of his DCU journey, running social projects in the community for local children, adults and elderly people in isolation respectively, as well holding the role of Head Coach of a local Special Olympics football team for the last two years. As a result of these initiatives during his time on the committee, the society won awards such as the President's Award for Engagement and DCU's best Charitable/Civic Society in 2017 and 2018, as well as being crowned Ireland's Best Charitable/Civic Society 2018.
Vito's experience with societies didn't stop there. During his time in DCU he co-founded Speakeasy (which was crowned DCU's Best New Society the same year), was a HeadstARTS (arts for people with intellectual disabilities) committee-member and serves as Advisory Board Liaison Officer for Enactus, who were crowned National Champions in 2017 and 2018, placed in the top 1% of Enactus teams worldwide at the 2017 World Cup in London, and are currently preparing for the 2018 World Cup in Silicon Valley. Vito was also Chairperson of the Board of Irish College Societies (BICS) Student Network, acting as the student figurehead for societies in all nineteen member institutions. As a result of these experiences, Vito was given the Individual Contribution to Society Life award in 2017, and then once again in 2018, as well as being nominated for the DCU President’s Award for Engagement on an individual basis in 2017.
Also during his time in DCU, Vito was also a Class Representative for three years, a Student Ambassador for two years, part of the team that secured the AACSB accreditation for DCU Business School and on the organising committee of Darkness Into Light 2018.
