Waqar is the Postgraduate Student Nominee of DCU Students’ Union. He represents all postgraduate students (taught and research) across the University ensuring their student experience lives up to the standard expected. Waqar is responsible for representing PG students on university committees and helping to build a strong, diverse, and connected postgraduate community. Waqar is enthusiastic to advocate and mobilise support for postgraduate students’ working rights and inclusion.

Currently, Waqar is doing a PhD at DCU’s School of Communications and aims to explore Podcasting in Ireland. Waqar is a graduate in MPhil Mass Communication from Beaconhouse National University (BNU) and BS Communication Studies at the University of Punjab (Pakistan). Previously, Waqar has served as PhD and MPhil Coordinator at the UCP. He has worked as Research Assistant and Teaching Assistant at the University of Exeter (UK) and BNU, respectively. Apart from his experience in academia, Waqar has also served various media and development organisations as a Country Consultant, Associate Producer, and Programme Coordinator.
