Occupational Health

Occupational Health is concerned with the prevention of ill health and work related injury. DCU supports the occupational health of staff through the provision of the following:
  • Pre-Employment Medicals provide advice about supports and accommodations that are needed to assist staff in carrying out their roles when they start employment with DCU. They also enable the University to provide any appropriate ongoing Occupational Health supports throughout an employee’s career with the University.  occupational health

  • Occupational Health Assessment Referrals are arranged in the event of long-term illness or when there are concerns arising regarding an individual’s health, safety and overall wellbeing in the workplace.  Occupational Health assessments can be arranged to support staff who may acquire a disability during their employment with the University.   Medmark, the University Medical Advisors, carry out these assessments and provide advice and recommendations to support the employee during what can be challenging times with a view to facilitating a full return to work.

  • DCU Health and Safety Office provide many supports, including for example ongoing health surveillance of existing employees, pregnant employee risk assessments, and assessment and treatment of workplace injuries. Find out more
