DCU Employee Assistance Programme (EAP)
The Employee Assistance Service (EAS) is a confidential mental wellbeing support service for all DCU employees, provided by Spectrum Life.
The service is designed to support employees and their immediate family members (18+) to resolve
personal or work related concerns. This service is available to all DCU staff and campus company staff.
You can access the EAP through the 24/7 freephone number 1800 814 243, or by texting (SMS) sending 'Hi' to 087 145 2056 or WhatsApp by sending 'Hi' to 087 3690010. To use Live Chat, please sign in using log-in details for the Wellbeing Portal below. You can also email eap@spectrum.life with your name and number to request a call back.
New: You can now request a preference to be connected with a counsellor who has expertise in supporting neurodivergent clients. Visit our dedicated Support for Autistic Staff webpage for more information about this service.
The EAS provides you with immediate access to ‘In the Moment’ support with a certified counsellor or psychotherapist who will be able to support you with the root cause of an emotional issue and help with onwards referral to the most appropriate service. Within the EAS support service, they can refer you to short term counselling (up to 6 sessions), or referral into CBT (Cognitive Behavioural therapy) to help you cope and deal more effectively with any personal or work related problems. If any support is recommended outside of the EAS service, they will be there to support and signpost you to any external services required.
The EAS is available 24 / 7 / 365 days and offers support to you, a spouse, civil partner or dependent, where the family member can be described as a person over the age of 18 and residing at the family home. As well as through a telephone helpline, free from Ireland, you can also access the EAS via SMS or Whatsapp. Furthermore, you can directly contact the EAS via the wellbeing portal and app by requesting a callback, through a live chat facility or via video counselling.
The EAS can help support your mental wellbeing with a wide variety of problems. The service provides a fully qualified team of counsellors* and experts who are highly experienced in personal and work related issues and can support anyone suffering with issues including but not limited to:
Depression, anxiety, stress
Grief and bereavement
Addictions
Relationship and marital problems
Work stress and work-life balance issues
Workplace conflict and communication
Life transitions such as career progression or retirement
We offer in the moment support, guidance and advice for any stress, anxiety or worry that may be present because of a practical issue someone is facing. In doing this we can also offer signposting advice to recommended providers
outside of the EAS programme on more practical supports including Legal Assistance, Financial advice etc.
*your first interaction with the service will be through the English Language but for further sessions counsellors who speak your first language (incl. Irish) can be sourced. However, it may mean meeting your counsellor remotely rather than face to face depending on geographical location of staff member and counsellor
