Manual Handling Course (Essential eLearning)

All colleagues at DCU are required to take this course to help avoid injury at work.

All colleagues throughout DCU and its campus companies.

Course description

Incorrect manual handling is one of the most common causes of injury at work. It causes work-related musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) which account for over a third of all workplace injuries. This programme is designed to give you a better understanding of the health and safety requirements when undertaking manual handling tasks.

On completion of this course you will be able to:

  • List your duties under current legislation
  • Understand the duties of both the employer and the employee.
  • Assess risks and know your limits undertaking manual handling tasks.
  • Learn about the anatomy of the spine, good manual handling techniques to prevent injury as well as the importance of exercise.
