Academic biography

Eamonn McConnon is Senior Research Development Lead and a member of the Research Support Services team. He is responsible for:

  • Leading the development and implementation of innovative strategies to secure large-scale, high-impact research funding.
  • Identifying emerging opportunities, supports complex grant applications.
  • Driving targeted programmes to win strategic research awards through proactive landscape analysis and engagement.


Eamonn received his PhD from the School of Law and Government, Dublin City University. He has a BA in Archaeology and Sociology from University College Dublin and an MA in International Security and Conflict Studies in Dublin City University. He has experience of pre and post award support for research funding.



Research interests

The merging of development and security; the use of development aid for conflict prevention and resolution; failed states; migration and the security-development nexus; human security; and security and development in Africa.
