With a PhD in food risk governance from the Department of Geography Trinity College, Laura Devaney is a postdoctoral researcher in the School of Law and Government at DCU. She is a social scientist with international expertise across environmental governance arenas, including sustainable food, bioeconomy and transport governance. She positions her work at the research-policy interface and has held research positions at Trinity College Dublin, Teagasc (the Irish Agriculture and Food Development Authority) and Dalhousie University (Nova Scotia, Canada). She was also the Fulbright-EPA Scholar for 2017-18, enabling a research visit to the University of California Berkeley.

Laura is currently working with Dr Diarmuid Torney (School of Law and Government) and Prof Patrick Brereton (School of Communications) on the EPA-funded project “Deepening public engagement on Climate Change: Lessons from the Citizens’ Assembly”. Previous to this, Laura worked with Diarmuid on the research project “Advancing the Low Carbon Transition in Irish Transport”, funded by the National Economic and Social Council.
