Biographical Details

Dr. Lydia M. Beuman is an IRC Government of Ireland Postdoctoral Fellow at the School of Law and Government. Her research interests are at the intersection of political institutions, conflict management and democratisation.

Dr. Beuman’s postdoctoral project involves a comparative study on the effects of Governments of National Unity on political stability and democratisation. She received her PhD degree from Dublin City University in November 2013 and her doctoral thesis on semi-presidentialism in East Timor was published by Routledge in 2016.Originally from the Netherlands, she holds a BA in Human Geography and a MA in Political Science and International Relations from the University of Amsterdam (UvA). She also pursued a doctoral course in Security and Defence studies at the Portuguese Catholic University (UCP), Lisbon.
