Thesis Title:India's Foreign Aid Policy: The Contradictions of Becoming a Global Player’

Thesis Abstract: India, since it gained independence in 1947, has come a long way, from being the largest aid recipient country at one point, receiving support from Organisation of Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) nations until mid-1990s to identifying itself as a ‘development partner’. As one of the leading countries in South - South Cooperation, India claims to be different to other southern donor nations and Development Assistance Committee (DAC) countries when it comes to providing aid and calls itself a ‘development partner’ rather than a donor. The research on ‘India's Foreign Aid Policy: The Contradictions of Becoming a Global Player’, aims to study the country’s aid policy, its implementation process, and the implications of the aid programme in recipient countries.

Areas of Interest: International Aid and Development, Politics in South Asia, Public Policy, Feminism.
