School of Law & Government

Research

The School of Law and Government is a research focused school, specialising in the fields of law and society, international relations (including development and security and conflict studies) and comparative politics. As you can see from our Staff Publications Page, we regularly publish in world-leading academic journals, as well as producing book length studies and policy reports. We have led national and internationally funded research projects for research councils, the EU, aid agencies and NGOs and have excellent connections with the policy communities in our areas of expertise. Much of our recent research is readily available through the DCU Online Research Access Service. Specific research interests, curricula vitae, datasets and a variety of other information can be found on the pages of individual staff members. We are proud of the close supervision we give to research students, both as traditional PhD students in law and as part of our Structured PhD in Politics and International Relations. The Centre for International Studies operates in close partnership with the School, especially in relation to research projects funded from outside the University. The School also hosts the Socio-Legal Research Centre which engages in empirical and theoretical research on both national and international levels.
