DCU School of Law and Government hosts Martin McEvoy Conference 2023

DCU School of Law and Government and DCU's Office of Civic Engagement hosted the Martin McEvoy Annual Conference 2023 entitled 'Policy Entrepreneurship and Public Policy - Case Studies in Policy Change'.

The hybrid conference began at 9.30am with following three presentations in the first session: 

  • Measuring Libertarianism with party manifesto data – Jonathan Arlow (DCU)
  • Paying the Piper, Calling the Tune: The role of the National Training Fund in elevating the interests of employers and industry in shaping higher education in Ireland – Aisling McKenna (DCU)
  • Polycentric evaluation as a guiding tool for policy implementation and entrepreneurship in educational networks: Cases from the Island of Ireland – Martin Brown (DCU)

After a 15 minutes break, the second session kicked off at 11.15am with the following three presentations:

  • Agenda-setting dynamics in cross-border development: the role of local governments in the Dublin-Belfast Economic Corridor – Eoin Magennis (UU) and Deiric Ó Broin (DCU)
  • The contribution of the community and voluntary sector to policy entrepreneurship and climate action in coastal areas – Paul Lawlor (TU Dublin)
  •  The role of policy entrepreneurs in the development of  social enterprise policy – Paula Dolan (DCU)
