Academic biography

Dr. Eldad Ben Aharon is a Visiting Fellow at the DCU Conflict Institute and a former Irish Research Council (IRC) Postdoctoral Fellow in International Security. He is the author of the book Israeli-Turkish Relations at the End of the Cold War: The Geopolitics of Denying the Armenian Genocide, to be published by Edinburgh University Press in November 2025.

Dr. Ben Aharon’s research explores the nexus of security, identity, and memory, drawing on insights from securitisation theory, foreign policy analysis, and oral history. He has published widely on Israeli foreign policy and Middle Eastern memory politics, as well as their intersections with broader regional conflict dynamics, such as the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. His work has appeared in leading academic journals, including the European Journal of International Security, Intelligence and National Security, Studies in Conflict & Terrorism, Oral History Review, British Journal of Middle Eastern Studies, Journal of Genocide Research,
