Biography:
Mr. Alan Kennedy received a B.E. in Mechanical Engineering from University College Dublin in 1990. He completed a M.Eng.Sc. degree in UCD in 1992, developing a resonant "double-ended tuning-fork" load sensor. His subsequent research activities have included: Development of software for the analysis of x-ray diffractograms with the Ceramics Research Centre, UCD. Design and development of a resonant density sensor in collaboration with Guinness Ireland and Tuchenhagen Ireland Ltd. Algorithm development for tool condition monitoring - COMPRO (www.compro.ucd.ie).
He joined the staff of DCU in 1999. He is currently undertaking doctoral research on TLM (Transmission Line Matrix) numerical modelling
Research Interests:
- TLM modelling.
- Sensor design and applications - design of vibrating sensors.
- Development of software for data analysis, process monitoring, and control.
- Development of software for interactive learning.
