
2025 Staff Elections to Governing Authority
Welcome to the 2025 Staff Elections to the DCU Governing Authority webpage.
The election will take place on Wednesday June 11th between 9am and 3pm.
There are four seats on the Authority, split between two panels, to be filled for a four year term of office.
The panels are as follows:
a) Two seats for DCU Academics; &
b) Two seats for DCU Professional Staff.
Voting will be conducted online via the DCU Loop platform and will be on the basis of a single transferable vote.
Please note that the new term of office for the Governing Authority will commence on July 29th 2025.
Eligible Candidates
All permanent members of staff of the University, and full time contract staff of the University who have a fixed term contract of one year duration or greater as of 1st May 2025 (i.e. full time contract staff who have a contract up until 30 April 2026 or later), who submit a fully completed Nomination Form.
Panels & Number Elected
Academic Staff Panel
Members of the Academic Staff Panel may elect two of their number to the DCU Governing Authority, no more than one of whom shall be of any one gender.
Professional Staff Panel
Members of the Professional Staff Panel may elect two of their number to the DCU Governing Authority, no more than one of whom shall be of any one gender.
Electorate
All permanent members of staff of the University, and full time contract staff of the University who have a fixed term contract of one year duration or greater as of 1st May 2025 (i.e. full time contract staff who have a contract up until 30 April 2026 or later).

Completed Nomination Papers must be submitted by noon on Thursday May 29th 2025 to the Office of the Chief Operations Officer (OCOO). The forms may be submitted by hand to the OCOO, or by they may be scanned and emailed to coo@dcu.ie. All nominations received will be sent an acknowledgement via email.
A list of nominated candidates will be posted on this webpage on Friday May 30th.
Registers of eligible voters, as provided by DCU People, are available on the two tabs below.
(Note: Only authenticated DCU Staff may view the registers).
All staff are asked to inspect the Voting Registers to ensure that they are included in the correct register of voters based on their status as either DCU Academic staff or Professional staff.
Any inaccuracies or queries regarding the voting registers should be brought to the attention of DCU People - contact: systemsdcupeople@dcu.ie.
(Note: Requests to amend or correct the registers will not be accepted after May 23rd).
To be eligible to vote staff must be either a:
A) Permanent member of University staff;
or
B) Full time contract staff of the University who possess a fixed term contract of one year duration or greater as of 1st May 2025.
Voting will be conducted online utilising DCU Loop.
Voting will be by means of a single transferable vote by placing the number 1, or 2 or 3 and so on opposite the candidate of your choice.
The Returning Officer will be the University Chief Operations Officer.
A scrutineer will be appointed to oversee the voting process.
An electronic counting of votes will take place immediately after the polls close.
The Returning Officer (i.e. the University Chief Operations Officer) will communicate the results of the election to the the following:
a) the President;
b) the Candidates; &
c) Finally, all Staff (by email).
