Course Entry Requirements

Published requirements are the minimum entrance requirements for consideration to a DCU Undergraduate degree programme. In addition to general entry requirements, some programmes may also have a specific course requirement in a specific subject.

Please visit the DCU programme pages above to confirm the entry requirements for the programme you are interested in. Applicants must meet the general and programme entry requirements.

Please use the Country and Qualifications table below to determine the qualification which can be considered for  entry to a DCU undergraduate programme.

Non EU - Meeting English Language Requirement (ELR)

Applicants that apply through DCU’s Application Portal and have not yet completed their final exam or are awaiting results for one of  DCU’s eligible English Language Requirements (ELR) tests must upload a “holding document”. The applicant must confirm the name of the English language test they are taking and the expected examination result date. This can be uploaded under the “Evidence of English Language proficiency” in the supplemental items and documents section.

Applicants who meet all other requirements for the programme with the exception of ELR and follow the process outlined above, may receive a conditional offer. Once completed, the applicant must provide the ELR documentation through the DCU application portal. Applicants must meet all requirements and conditions of their conditional offer before a full offer may be processed.

**In the event applicants with outstanding English Language Requirements do not follow the process outlined above, the application will not be assessed until all required documentation has been received through the DCU application portal.

Application Supporting Documentation/Evidence

An official decision on your eligibility to a programme can only be provided once an application along with all required supporting documentary evidence has been submitted before the application deadline.

To avoid delays in the processing of your application, please provide all required supplementary evidence for your application upon submitting your application to DCU. Please note that verification checks are carried out on documents provided in support of an applicant's eligibility. The Admissions team reserves the right to withdraw or rescind an application or offer at any stage during the process of admission, if it is found that a document in support of an application has been falsified. This can also result in your application being marked unsuccessful.

How to Apply

Year 1 Entry

Applicants presenting Non-EU qualifications or those that require a visa to study at DCU should apply through the DCU student application portal, available here.

Advanced Entry (request to transfer from another institute)

Applicants currently taking higher education studies at another institution may apply to enroll onto a similar course of study at DCU. Credits earned in another institute may be considered. There should be substantial overlap in content between the two programmes to be considered for advanced entry.

Not all courses have an advanced entry route and it is a competitive process for a small number of places. A complete list of programmes permitting advanced entry can be found here https://www.dcu.ie/registry/advanced-entry-programme-list. An application does not guarantee admission.

Applicants presenting Non-EU qualifications or those that require a isa to study at DCU should apply through the DCU student application portal, available here. When submitting an application, please upload a cover note indicating that you are applying for Advanced Entry. This should be supported by academic transcripts. You will also need to provide syllabi for every module that you wish to be considered for advanced entry. Incomplete applications may result in your application being delayed or not processed.

If you undertook degree studies in the EU and wish to apply for advanced entry, you will need to apply via the CAO. For further information for applicants with an EU qualification, please visit here.

Please note that if you wish to be considered as a Mature applicant, you would need to apply via the CAO.
