How to apply to DCU
EU Applicants (EU, EFTA & UK) - How to Apply
Undergraduate applicants based in the EU and presenting EU qualifications, make an application through the Central Applications Office (CAO) by 1st February. Take note of the important closing date information for CAO applicants. This includes multi-national qualifications from applicants educated in Europe, to include the European Baccalaureate (EB) and the International Baccalaureate (IB). To verify the countries included in this application route, please visit here.

Postgraduate applicants

Please note that documentation uploaded in support of your application must not be password protected. Any documentation that is password protected or ineligible to our admissions team will cause delays in your application and possibly result in your application not being assessed or deemed unsuccessful.

Previous DCU Students
Students who were previously registered but did not complete a DCU programme and wish to return to that programme, should contact their Faculty to discuss the appropriate readmission process.

International Applicants - How to Apply

Any documentation that is password protected or ineligible to our admissions team will cause delays in your application and possibly result in your application not being assessed or deemed unsuccessful. The closing date for international undergraduate programmes is 1st July.

Please ensure that if you are applying as an international applicant, that you submit your application and all required documentation in support of your application by the published deadline of July 1st. Applications received after this date may not be processed for your desired programme.
International Applications - Meeting English Language Requirement (ELR)
Applicants that apply through DCU’s Application Portal and have not yet completed their final exam or are awaiting results for one of DCU’s eligible English Language Requirements (ELR) tests must upload a “holding document”. The applicant must confirm the name of the English language test they are taking and the expected examination result date. This can be uploaded under the “Evidence of English Language proficiency” in the supplemental items and documents section.
Applicants who meet all other requirements for the programme with the exception of ELR and follow the process outlined above, may receive a conditional offer. Once completed, the applicant must provide the ELR documentation through the DCU application portal. Applicants must meet all requirements and conditions of their conditional offer before a full offer may be processed.
**In the event applicants with outstanding English Language Requirements do not follow the process outlined above, the application will not be assessed until all required documentation has been received through the DCU application portal.

Research Applicants - How to Apply
How to Make an Application
To make a research application to DCU, please use the DCU Student Application Portal. Begin your application by submitting a Postgraduate Research pre-application form. Please note that documentation uploaded in support of your application must not be password protected. Any documentation that is password protected or ineligible to our admissions team will cause delays in your application and possibly result in your application not being assessed or deemed unsuccessful.

Previous DCU Students
Previous DCU graduates are welcome to apply directly to another programme at DCU. Previously registered students that did not graduate with an award and wish to return to DCU to the same programme should not apply through CAO or CRM. They should firstly contact their Faculty for guidance on the appropriate path for readmission to DCU.

All Applicants - Additional Supporting Documentation
Applicants may be required to provide additional information or supporting documentation to facilitate the necessary validation of information carried out during an application assessment.
Ukrainian Admissions - Applicants presenting Ukrainian qualifications while living within the EU, can apply through CAO here. Applicants presenting Ukrainian qualifications while living outside the EU (including the Ukraine), should apply through the DCU student application portal, available here. (* DCU English language requirements must be satisfied)
International Foundation Programme - You may need to take a foundation course if you do not satisfy DCU’s minimum entrance requirements. Find out more about how to apply the International Foundation Programme by clicking here.
Pre-sessional English programmes - If you have a conditional offer of a place at DCU, but don’t satisfy DCU’s English language requirements, you may be able to take a five-week or 10-week pre-sessional English programme on the DCU campus. Once you successfully complete this programme, you can progress to your full-time DCU programme. For more information on the Pre-session English programmes, visit here.
