The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Research Call 2024 is open for applications. This call could be of interest to researchers across all 5 of DCU's Faculties, including previous EPA applicants and those who have never considered the EPA before (note that 40% of awardees in 2023 had never applied to the EPA before).
€14.5M is available for research projects that will support policy and decision-making addressing environmental, climate change and sustainability challenges. Applications are invited under 13 broad themes and the EPA have stressed that they are not being prescriptive and are interested in new applicants, a wide range of disciplines and innovative ideas.
Key points:
Thematic Structure: EPA Research 2030 has a thematic structure comprising the following four interconnected hubs, which bring an integrated and cross-sectoral approach. Under each of these hubs are a number of themes.
NOTE: Applicants are permitted to make multiple submissions to the call but may only make a single submission under any Call Topic Reference
Given the particular focus on policy, the EPA will evaluate and review in light of a framework of engaged research and a pathway to policy.
Project Scale and Duration: All projects are medium scale projects, up to 48 months
Budget: Budget is dependant on theme – up to €660K
Career Stage: No defined career stage. The quality of the proposal is the key criteria. CV’s are not required. Ability to deliver on key outcomes will be reviewed in light of team experience across all aspects of the projects lifecycle.
