Funding Success

Abbvie Inc. funded research programme

Congratulations to Dr Tomas Zurawski and Dr Gary Lawrence (School of Biotechnology) on their recent success. They are jointly leading a sponsored research project with Abbvie Inc. The project is valued at €577,000 and will be in the area of botulinum neurotoxins.

 

2024 France Excellence Research Residency grant 

We would like to congratulate Dr Qi Zhang (SALIS) on being awarded the 2024 France Excellence Research Residency grant. She will be collaborating with colleagues in Université Paris Cité on her project titled “Examining Chinese language education in France and Ireland: Implications for its future development in Europe”. We wish the very best to Dr Zhang and we look forward to hearing more about this project. 

 

Recent Honours

Boyle-Higgins Gold Medal and Lecture Award

Prof. Tia Keyes (School of Chemical Sciences) was recently awarded the prestigious Boyle-Higgins Gold Medal and Lecture Award. This award from Chemistry Ireland is made for outstanding and internationally recognised research contribution to the advancement of chemistry.

 

New President-Elect of WERA

Prof. Joe O’Hara (School of Policy & Practice/EQI) has been elected to the position of President-elect of the World Educational Research Association (WERA). WERA aims to advance educational research at a global level and to bring together a community of scholars to address issues of educational and research interest in order to serve the public good. 

 

New Royal Irish Academy member

Prof. Gary Murphy (School of Law & Government) was recently elected to the Royal Irish Academy.  The Academy is Ireland’s all-island learned society and membership is considered our highest academic honour. It has approximately 650 members, chosen for their contributions to scholarship, research, and public service.
