DCU Invent is delighted to welcome you to Explore 2024 - Research to Impact Workshop Series. This series of two workshops will delve into the transformative impact of your research! They will shed light on who might use your research and on the real-world problems your research addresses. By attending, DCU researchers and academics will gain valuable insight into how your academic endeavours make a meaningful impact on society. The two workshops will offer an opportunity to share your discoveries and explore the solutions your research provides. These highly interactive practical workshops use leading edge innovation methodologies and tools to support market exploration of research ideas.
DCU Invent wants to identify researchers with an interest in creating impact from their research through commercialisation and support them to advance their ideas using the latest methodologies in market discovery.
The aim of these workshops is to build a pipeline of early-stage research opportunities that could eventually become spin-out companies. The workshops will advance early-stage ideas and in some cases, position them for follow-on funding: for example, Enterprise Ireland’s Commercialisation Fund Feasibility Study or Commercialisation Fund.
Open to all DCU researchers, PhDs, academic staff, Heads of Schools and Research Centres.
Let’s unlock the potential impact of your valuable research!

As part of the PPI Ignite Festival 2024 the PPI Ignite Network at DCU will host an in-person event focused on finding PPI contributors and opportunities in health and social care research. The aim of this event is to provide time and space for attendees (PPI contributors, researchers, research support staff, clinicians, patient/community organisations) to reflect on best practice for PPI recruitment, discuss challenges and to share helpful resources. This is based on feedback from our partners and those whom we have provided PPI assistance to.
This collaborative event presents an opportunity for attendees to come together to interact, share insights and experience.
-
The first part will feature speakers and a panel discussion.
-
The second part will be round table discussions and sharing of resources for PPI recruitment.
Experiences and materials shared and developed on the day will be used to develop a resource gathering tips, tools and best practice for finding PPI contributors and PPI opportunities into one location. Contact Lucy Whiston at ppi@dcu.ie for more information.
