Research Collaboration Supporting Innovation in the Public Sector

Research Ireland will hold an online panel discussion on ‘Research Collaboration Supporting Innovation in the Public Sector’ as part of Public Service Transformation Week on Friday, 25th October, at 2:00pm.
Deputy CEO at Research Ireland, Dr Ciarán Seoighe, will chair a conversation on how Research Ireland is supporting innovation in the public sector through collaborative and co-funded research partnerships and the role of research collaboration in driving transformational change.
Digital transformation of the public sector, and the risks and benefits in driving innovations such as AI, will also be discussed, along with upcoming research partnership opportunities.

COALESCE 2025 - Information and Networking Session Registration

The IRC COALESCE funding call is now open and the deadline is 4:00pm on Thursday 5th December 2024. The TORA Deadline for this call is Thursday 21st November.
This call funds excellent research addressing national and European/global challenges as set out in the challenge frameworks. This year’s call includes strands funded by Research Ireland, Irish Aid and CUAN:

Strand 2A: Open call for interdisciplinary research addressing national or global societal challenges led by AHSS PI with STEM co-PI. Funded by Taighde Éireann – Research Ireland (Duration: 2 years. Budget: max. €220,000 per award)

Strand 2B: Providing opportunities for new collaborations between researchers in Ireland and researchers in eligible partner countries, based around excellent research projects aligned to the policy priorities set out in A Better World: Ireland’s Policy for International Development. funded by Irish Aid. (Duration 3 years. Budget: max. €350,000 per award)

Strand 1M: Developing new insights, knowledge, and evidence through high quality research to support the implementation of Irish government policy and the generation of evidence to inform a zero tolerance response to Domestic, Sexual and Gender-Based Violence in Ireland. Funded by Cuan (Duration: 2 years, Budget: maximum €240,000 per award)
In support of this call we will run an information and interdisciplinary networking workshop on 31st October 2024. At this session you will learn about the key details of the call and the application requirements. You will also get a chance to connect with researchers from different disciplines for possible collaboration on Strand 2A applications. Author Rights for Open Access

The DCU Open Research Steering Group has organised a lunchtime online event on Monday, 4th November, on the topic of Author Rights for Open Access.
The featured speaker is Dr Eoin O’Dell, Associate Professor of Law in Trinity College Dublin. He is also co-lead of SCOIR, a NORF-funded project which aims to help researchers to retain their rights for the works they publish and to make their work open access.
This session will look at SCOIR's work to date and the potential for its outputs to support and enable open access in DCU, including an open access policy framework for Irish institutions.
It will be of interest to all members of the DCU research community.
Research Integrity Bytes - Lunchtime Series
DCU’s Research Development and Support team invites you to our lunchtime series offering “byte sized” updates on research integrity matters. The series is relevant to all DCU researchers and will provide an opportunity to engage with colleagues in enhancing research integrity across the research project lifecycle. Each of the six interactive sessions will focus on an aspect of research integrity and offer practical tips to participants.

Irish Health Research Forum - Public trust in health research: are we doing enough?

Trust is the cornerstone of effective health research, influencing everything from the success of the research to its acceptance by the public. Yet, building and maintaining trust demands thoughtfulness, strong action, and the involvement of many stakeholders.
At this Irish Health Research Forum, we will delve into the critical role that different actors can play in fostering trust in health research. We will explore how these groups can be proactive and work together to ensure that health research is not only rigorous but also resonates with the values and expectations of the public.

Who should register?
The Irish Health Research Forum has a track record in running engaging events that are attended by many leaders and a diverse audience. Key decision makers, as well as researchers (academic & clinical), health research charities, patients and PPI contributors, policy makers, funders, industry representatives, people in research/PPI support roles and many others will add value to the discussions.
MSCA Staff Exchanges Info Session and Brokerage Event

On the 15th November, EC Research Executive Agency will host an information session for the MSCA Staff Exchanges 2024. The info day link is Events | The research and innovation community platform (europa.eu).
In addition to the info day session, a new Brokerage Event has been published for the MSCA Staff Exchanges 2024 call to support partner searches for applicants forming consortia or looking to join a consortium.
Anyone interested in participating in the brokerage event must register and include an item in the marketplace (as participants need to be validated). From 12:30 to 8:00pm on 15th November, participants will be able to book 1-to-1 meetings with future partners via the brokerage platform.
ECIU Consortium-Building for Erasmus+ Proposals 2025

If you have an idea for an Erasmus+ project and are looking to build a consortium for an application in 2025, we invite you to share your ideas and find partners within the ECIU community!
Step 1: If you haven't already, please register to the ECIU R&I Hub (fill in the form here)
Step 2: Go to the E+ Proposals-Call for Partners Channel (see the link here) where you’ll find template slides
Step 3: Post your slides up on the Channel
Step 4: Attend the networking event on 3rd December 10:00am-12:00pm IST. Presenters of selected proposals will lead breakout rooms with the support of facilitators from ECIU’s EduCo group, and use the space as a call for partners around their project concept. We will use Zoom for this event.

Proposals can be for any Erasmus+ project meeting any of the Erasmus+ Horizontal or Call-specific Priorities and on a topic that contributes to the ECIU mission.
