
SFI Royal Society Fellowships
Science Foundation Ireland- Royal Society University Research Fellowships 2017
The Science Foundation Ireland- Royal Society University Research Fellowship (URF) scheme aims to provide outstanding early career scientists, who have the potential to become leaders in their chosen field, with the opportunity to build an independent research career based within an Irish Host Research Body.
The award covers:
• the salary of the fellow for 5 years (with possible further 3 years of funding)
• an annual contribution to research costs
• institutional overhead contribution
Subjects covered:
Fellowships are awarded in all fields of the natural sciences and engineering (including agriculture, mathematics, technology, but excluding clinical medicine). The scheme does not support biomedical research.
Researcher Eligibility
Applicants must:
• Be applying to hold their fellowship in an SFI eligible Research Body. Applicants must have between 3–8 years of research experience since obtaining their PhD (defined by the call closing date)
• be a citizen of the European Economic Area (EEA), a Swizz citizen or of have a relevant connection to the EEA
• not hold a permanent academic post
