Academic biography
Dr. Martin O'Donoghue is a Senior Research Support Officer in the Research Development and Support Team. Following a PhD in plant and microbial biochemistry awarded by UCC in conjunction with Teagasc, his first postdoctoral fellowship was in the University of Sheffield, UK, in plant molecular genetics, a second postdoctoral fellowship in the University of Osnabrueck, Germany, and a final postdoctoral fellowship in Teagasc where he worked closely with industry. He then became Research Programme Coordinator for the Irish partnership on the Ireland-Wales Interreg EU funded programme Celtic Advanced Life Science Innovation Network based in UCD which included duties such as developing and supporting consortium applications to National and European funding calls and engagement with relevant life science enterprises within region. He then moved to Maynooth University's Research Office supporting applications to National and International funders, tenders and consultancies in his role as research officer before beginning his current position as senior research officer in the Research Development and Support Office in Dublin City University.
Research interests
As a research officer Dr O'Donoghue supports grant applications, contracts associated with awards and progressing those applications on DCU's award system. He is call manager for many of the Research Ireland funding programmes, MSCA COFUND, Doctoral Networks, Staff Exchange, Researchers Night and Horizon Europe applications in which DCU are partners, the EU's Digital Europe Programme and miscellaneous Humanities and Social Sciences grant applications and awards.
