Academic biography
Dr Tríona O’Hanlon is the Research Development Officer for DCU’s Institute of Education. She provides academic colleagues with professional support and expert guidance on the strategic development of external research funding applications. She supports a range of national and international research funding schemes, and education and public engagement schemes, including those offered by Research Ireland, Wellcome, Spencer Foundation, European Research Council, MSCA, Scotens, Government and Agency tenders.
Tríona has an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the research funding landscape, acquired through her experience of working both in academic and professional support roles. Her PhD was co-funded by the Government of Ireland and Dublin Institute of Technology. During her time as an early career researcher at Queen’s University Belfast, host institution for Tríona’s MSCA funded postdoctoral research (Project ERIN), she continued to develop a strong trajectory in successful research funding applications and collaborations. She has partnered with Ulster Orchestra and Northern Ireland Opera on the delivery of teaching, while her research collaborations include projects with the British Library, Bibliotheque national de France, Glasgow University, Chamber Choir Ireland, and Rockfinch Productions.

Research interests
Tríona’s area of research expertise is in musicology, specifically the historiography of music in 18th- and 19th century Dublin, with a particular focus on song culture, charity music, and the works of G.F. Handel.
