The SFI Science Week Call 2024 is now open.
The purpose of the Science Week Call is to provide support to Festivals and Events nationwide that support public engagement, communities underrepresented in, or those with less access to STEM to engage in ways that are relevant and accessible during Science Week and beyond in creative ways.
SFI invites applications for Science Week Festivals and Events nationwide that will stimulate curiosity and dialogue amongst the public, that innovate the Festival and Event offering through novel approaches, and which collaborate with the communities they aim to engage.

The Irish Cancer Society have launched their PhD Research Scholarship Programmes for 2024. This year, they are awarding three different Cancer Research Scholarships.
All Scholarships will come with a minimum stipend of €22,000 per annum over a full-time (3 or 4 years) or part-time basis. They are also offering a unique mobility element with all the Scholarships.
This year, they are partnering with the Irish Association for Cancer Research (IACR) to offer two scholarships, which are available across the island of Ireland:

EPOS-NL, the Dutch research infrastructure for solid Earth sciences, offers free-of-charge access to top Earth scientific research labs in the Netherlands:
- The ESL High Pressure and Temperature (HPT) Lab at Utrecht University
- The ESL Tectonic modelling (Tec-)Lab at Utrecht University
- The Petrophysics Lab (DPL) at Delft University of Technology
- The Multi-scale Imaging and Tomography (MINT) facilities at Delft University of Technology
- The Electron probe microanalyzer (EPMA) at Utrecht University
- The Porous Media Lab at Utrecht University
- The Rijswijk Centre for Sustainable Geo-energy (RCSG), of TNO
These labs offer capabilities for A) rock mechanics and fluid transport testing at crustal conditions, on samples ranging from mm to meter-scale, B) analogue modelling of tectonic processes, and C) a wide range X-ray tomography techniques, for 3D imaging down to sub-micrometer resolution. Access includes lab use, scientific support and financial support for travel, accommodation, or sample shipment.

The IRC Ulysses Call 2025 launched on 15th February, and the submission deadline is 4pm on 11th April 2024.
The Ulysses scheme is aimed at fostering new collaborations between Ireland and France-based researchers by providing seed funding for reciprocal travel visits. The scheme thus facilitates the exchange of innovative ideas and approaches across all disciplines.
Selected research projects will also be supported by the following strategic partners:
- Electricity transmission system operator EirGrid will partner with France-based Réseau de Transport d’Électricité to support suitably aligned research projects in the area of renewable energies and smart grids.
- The Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland and ADEME, the French Environment and Energy Management Agency, will provide support to research projects exploring topics relating to sustainable energies.
In order to facilitate more collaborative engagements, funding is now provided over the course of 2 calendar years and has been increased to €5,000 each to Ireland- and France-based research partners.

The Health Research Board will shortly be launching a European Joint Transnational Call (JTC) for transnational collaborative research in the area of health and care systems, specifically in the area of prevention with the help of existing IT and digital technologies.
HRB are providing funding for researchers based in Ireland as part of this call. A link to the central call page is provided below:

The Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM) is pleased to share with you the announcement of the 1st co-funded call for joint European research projects under the Horizon Europe AGROECOLOGY Partnership.

Further information on the funding supports being made available by DAFM to facilitate Irish researcher involvement in the research Call under the Agroecology Partnership will be published on the Department’s Research and Codex website shortly.
The Partnership AGROECOLOGY (European partnership on accelerating farming systems transition – agroecology, living labs and research infrastructures) goal is to unlock the transition to agroecology so that farming systems are resilient, productive and prosperous, place-sensitive, as well as climate, environment, ecosystem, biodiversity and people-friendly by 2050. Currently 70 partners, which includes DAFM, from 26 countries and regions are part of this vision.
