CTTS
The Centre for Translation and Textual Studies
The Centre for Translation and Textual Studies is a research centre in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Science that is home to academics, PhD students and Post-Doctoral scholars united by their focus on language and translation.
The CTTS is unique in several ways:
- Scope: ranging from literature to technology, from Irish to Asian languages, from historical texts to impact captions.
- Expertise: members of the CTTS are internationally recognised as leading researchers in their fields.
- Relevance: our research is relevant to industrial, educational, and governmental stakeholders
- Inter-disciplinarity: we support each other in our research endeavours despite broad-ranging approaches and interests.
The Mission
Our mission is to collectively and individually study and understand the cultural and historical transformation of multimodal, multilingual and translingual communicative practices and their impact on the creation and consumption of ‘text’ in its traditional and modern forms. This applied research endeavour will impact on national and international models, policies and practices on the theoretical, industrial, pedagogical and societal dimensions.
