School of Nursing, Psychotherapy and Community Health

Welcome to the School of Nursing, Psychotherapy & Community Health (SNPCH) which has gained national and international recognition for the quality of its diverse programmes of study in nursing, health & society, psychotherapy and sexuality studies at Bachelor, Masters, Doctorate and PhD levels, developed by dynamic staff in collaboration with organisations in both the public and private sectors. 

Within our School we have a thriving research community led by experienced internationally recognised researchers creating opportunities for Post Graduates to complete Masters or PhD level research and make significant contributions to knowledge and service delivery in the Health and Social Sciences.

There are three Academic Groups within the SNPCH:

NURSING

This Academic Group offers programmes at Bachelor, Masters, Doctorate and PhD levels, developed by dynamic staff in collaboration with organisations in both the public and private sectors.

Nurses play a critical role in society: they help individuals achieve, maintain or regain independence and the best possible health, and at other times, they provide comfort, support and dignity in times of illness or death. They often work in conjunction with families, groups or the larger community. In addition to professionalism, a nurse must practice with intelligence, compassion and enthusiasm.

PSYCHOTHERAPY

The Academic Group offers programmes at Masters, Doctorate and PhD levels, developed by dynamic staff in collaboration with organisations in both the public and private sectors.

This programme builds upon candidates current psychotherapy knowledge,competencies and skills to enable the development of an inquiry-based attitude to practice and will inform the implementation of research projects that advance the boundaries of psychotherapy knowledge and locates participants as an authority in their chosen area or field of interest. Participants in the Doctorate programme will exit with the knowledge and ability to work as senior psychotherapists and researchers.

COMMUNITY HEALTH

This Academic Group offers programmes at Bachelor, Masters, Doctorate and PhD levels, developed by dynamic staff in collaboration with organisations in both the public and private sectors.
