Academic Lead in Nursing

PhD MSc PGDipCHSE BNS RGN RNT SFHEA

As Academic Lead in Nursing, I work with staff within the Nursing Group, the Head of School and the School Executive, to prepare and implement a strategic vision, and to develop the academic discipline(s), including education, research, and professional practice. My role also includes contributing to the leadership and management/administration of the School and leadership activities at Faculty and University level.

I teach on the undergraduate BSc in Nursing programme and I am currently chairing the MSc Nursing / Healthcare Practice. My most recent work is centred around digital healthcare education with Erasmus+ funded projects such as 'AHEAD' Assessment in Healthcare EducAtion goes digital', 'eCoNNECT: enhanced Communication iN Nursing through Exchange of Clinical Teaching experiences' and 'TANAHE: Teaching and Assessing for Nurses and Allied Health Educators', all of which have been developed together with EU/global partners. I have developed expertise in online / blended learning formats, and in developing multilingual study materials, producing creative media and interactive videos, and in recorded / AI assessments to provide individualised and detailed assessments and feedback to students.  At a national level, I led a group in Nursing related to eportfolio and reflective learning. I was recently awarded a Senior Fellowship with Advance HE, which demonstrates that my teaching is in line with the UK Professional Framework for Professional Teaching and Learning.

'Advanced Practice Nursing' is me clinical area of expertise. My past clinical experience and my extensive involvement in conferences, publications and projects have led to global recognition and a voluntary leadership position with the International Council of Nurses (ICN) APN / NP Network as their current Chair.
