Aisha Siwar, Economics, Politics and Law
Why you chose DCU?
On the DCU open day I fell in love with the sense of community here on campus. I knew DCU would become my home away from home. Everyone has a place here no matter what they’re studying, their interests, beliefs or personality. Also I had a very strong interest in a career in public policy and economics so DCU was the obvious choice as they are the only place I could study Economics, Politics and Law together.
One unique thing about your course?
In your first two years of the course you study all three disciplines, Economics, Politcs and Law. You then in your final year choose to specialize in one of the disciplines. This is brilliant for students like myself who weren’t sure which area of social science is for them but also equips you with so many skills and tools across all subjects. Because of this you can land yourself in all sorts of careers in many different organizations.
Best thing about DCU so far?
For me it would have to be Clubs and Societies. I have met my best friends in them and had some amazing experiences and trips I’ll never forget. The more involved you are in extra cirucular activities the more you’ll love your time here in DCU.
Plans after DCU?
For now I would really like to do a masters or internship abroad in either Economics or Politics, so that I can travel and study at the same time.
