Why you chose to study in DCU?
I always knew I wanted to study science and so I started looking at courses that would suit my specific interests and DCU offered so many. My sister also attended DCU so I was comfortable and familiar with the campus.
DCU also offered a pre-uni access course into my course Biotechnology which I think is amazing as it gives students who may not be happy with their leaving cert the chance to get into their preferred course.
One unique part about your course that you like
The opportunities it gives me. With this course I have the options to go into a range of different careers as well as the chance to explore these careers through an internship in 3rd year.
Best thing about DCU experience so far
My involvement in societies and the different opportunities DCU has given me so far such as class rep, becoming treasurer of the Science and Health society and my involvement as student ambassador.
Advice you would give to your younger self thinking of what to do/ where to go
Not to worry about the leaving cert too much as there’s always a way to get to the course you want.
Plans after DCU
Continue my studies through either obtaining my PhD in disease research or completing a masters. I’d also love the opportunity to explore my degree in other countries through hands on internships and work.
