Why you chose DCU?

I chose to study in DCU because it is the only university that provided a course that had everything I was looking for. I was never sure exactly what I wanted to do in college so Communications gave me a chance to touch on a lot of different areas given the broad nature of the course. DCU also has some excellent facilities for a student like me to use to help me with projects, coursework and to upskill myself for the future.

One unique part of your course

I really enjoy the practical element of my course, it is unique because not only do we apply what we learn in our lectures to our practical modules but we also have access to industry standard equipment to use on all of our work which is a great way to prepare yourself for the work environment you can expect after college.

Best thing about your DCU experience so far?

The best thing about DCU for me so far has got to be the student life, DCU has over 100 different Clubs & Societies for you to join, whether that is a sport you’ve played for a years or something new that you would love to try. There’s constantly events, activities and much more to do around campus or trips off campus. Societies like Sober Soc, Media Production Society and Raising and Giving have added so much to my college experience

Advice you would give to your younger self

The best advice I would have for my younger self or for anyone hoping to come to college would be never be afraid to try a new hobby, make new friends and never be afraid to not like something. College provides a great opportunity to travel and have some incredible experiences and I would tell my younger self to stop worrying about what you want to be because you have so much to learn before you can make that decision for certain.

Plans after DCU?

I am hoping to travel after I leave DCU or to move abroad for a year or two and try to find work that will give me valuable experience as I start to hopefully build a career for myself in the media industry.
