Why you chose to study in DCU?
I chose to come to DCU because I wanted to become a teacher but I wasn’t 100% sure, I decided to do the Bachelor of Arts in English and History as I was passionate about these subjects and I would be studying alongside Primary School teachers on the St Patrick’s Campus so I could get a flavor of their degree.
One unique part about your course that you like
I have few contact hours on my course which allows me to fit in more extra curricular activities and I can work through my course material in my own time, with English we have a lot of content to get through in a week from novels to plays however it is quite relaxing because you can listen to audiobooks on your home or read a book before you go to sleep.
Best thing about DCU experience so far
Getting involved in the Students Union has been without a doubt been my best experience in DCU. I was given the opportunity to sit on the Students Union Executive committee and representing our students voice and opinions on a local and national level. DCU Staff have a great relationship with the Students and respect and take on our views, every decision making committee in the university has a student representative which really shows that the students are the heart of the university.
Advice you would give to your younger self thinking of what to do/ where to go
Grab every opportunity with both hands! We are here for a short time so make the most of it.
Plans after DCU
Hopefully work in the Student movement for a few years and return to teaching.
