At DCU, you’ll learn from world-leading AI experts and participate in groundbreaking research. This course will equip you to create, advance, and manage AI-driven solutions, driving innovation in healthcare, science, agriculture, education, manufacturing, law, financial services, and beyond.

During this programme, you’ll study the fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence. You’ll also study topics including Data Analytics and Data Mining, Machine Learning, and Data Management and Visualisation. 

This course has a hands-on approach and reaches its pinnacle with a summer project practicum. Here, you'll apply your skills by creating a real-world software AI prototype. Whether you're analysing processes, proposing innovative solutions, or collaborating within a team, this practical experience empowers you to excel in your field and make a tangible impact.

Technology of the future

Predicting natural disasters, using smart grids to distribute energy more efficiently, countering disinformation regarding medical news, and using robots to perform life-saving surgeries – these developments are only possible because of AI. The possibilities of AI are boundless, as are the opportunities available to you as a graduate of this course. There is strong demand for graduates with the highly specialised multi-disciplinary skills that are required in AI, both as practitioners in the development of artificial intelligence applications and as researchers into the advanced capabilities required for the creation of next-generation AI systems.
 

Programme Structure

This flexible course allows students to study part-time or full-time on our DCU Glasnevin campus. The McNulty building is home to the School of Computing and students get an opportunity to study in a modern, state-of-the-art building with excellent teaching, laboratory, workshop and computing facilities. 

Part-time students will have six hours of lectures and labs a week, which will take place after 4pm. Full-time students will have roughly 12 hours. Added to this will be all of the directed laboratory and study work required to complete continual assessments.
