IRC EPS 2015

2015 IRC Enterprise Partnership Scheme

The online application system for the 2015 Irish Research Council Enterprise Partnership Scheme (EPS) is now open - with a closing date for applications of 4pm on Wednesday 17th June. See the following link: http://research.ie/scheme/enterprise-partnership-scheme All scholarships are to commence on 1st February 2016.

Enterprise Partners can register with the IRC at any stage throughout the year - see the following link: https://irishresearch.smartsimple.ie/files/318532/f91747/CompanySignUpPage4.htm

The contribution from the Enterprise Partner will constitute one third of the total value of the Scholarship, up to a maximum contribution of €8,000 per annum.

Students who applied to the 2015 Government of Ireland (GOI) scheme or the Employment Based Programme (EBP) earlier in the year are eligible to apply for the Enterprise Partnership Scheme. The EPS application in this instance would not count as a second (and final) IRC application ie. applicants have 2 opportunities to apply for both the GOI and EPS schemes. Please note that students who have registered as year 1 at DCU in 2014-15 (prior to 2nd March 2015) and wish to apply under a structured PhD will only be eligible to apply for 2 years funding. Please see the IRC FAQ document below for further details.

Deadlines

The relevant deadlines are as follows:

1. The deadline for applicants to the scheme is exactly 4pm (GMT) on Wednesday 17th June 2015.

2. The deadline for supervisors, referees and mentors is exactly 4pm (GMT) on Wednesday 24th June 2015.

3. The closing date for endorsement by the research office of the proposed host institution is exactly 4pm (GMT) on Wednesday 1st July 2015.

Results are expected to be announced in September 2015. Official start date is 1st February 2016.

Academic Supervisors/Enterprise Partners/Enterprise Mentors/Referees

Academic Supervisors have to be pre-registered on the IRC online system if they haven't been previously, and they should contact Jonny Hobson for this to happen. Applicants will know if their supervisor needs to be pre-registered as their details won't appear in the drop down list on the online system (Referees do not need to pre-register).

As above, the proposed Enterprise Partner (ie. the actual organisation) needs to be pre-registered if it is not listed on the online system. Only after the Enterprise Partner has been registered can a student go in and select an Enterprise Mentor. Enterprise Mentors (person or persons designated by the partner as being responsible for supporting and mentoring the scholar in relation to the partner's involvement in the scheme) do not have to be pre-registered.

Applicants to the EPS Scheme should also contact the Invent Centre in DCU as research/IP agreements have to be in place between the institution and Enterprise Partner before the scholarship can commence. Applicants for the EPS scheme will have an Academic Supervisor, Enterprise Mentor and 2 referees.
