Invent, together with Learning and Development,provide this training programme to support research staff who wish to develop their knowledge of intellectual property.

Date: 5th December 2018

Course duration: 2.5 hours 

Target Audience: All members of the research community, including academics, postdoctoral researchers and:

  • Researchers interested in how to protect the results of their research
  • Researchers interested in commercialisation of their research outputs
  • Researchers working on any state funded grants where protection and exploitation of IP is a key driver element

Aims of this course: 
Protection of our intellectual property rights has become increasingly important in a global, digital world. This course aims to educate researchers about the basic steps of protection and exploitation of intellectual property. It also explains the financial benefit scheme in place at DCU arising from exploitation of DCU IP. 

Following this course, researchers should have knowledge of:

  • Intellectual Property protection and IP Integrity
  • Patenting process
  • Patent searching online
  • DCU IP policy
