Experts by Experience: What does this mean for Public and Patient Involvement?
DCU PPI Ignite, in collaboration with our partner organisations, Health Research Charities Ireland, International Network Toward Alternatives and Recovery, Irish Advocacy Network, Spina Bifida Hydrocephalus Ireland, and Epilepsy Ireland are pleased to invite members of the public, patient organisations, patients, carers and researchers to an interactive event, sponsored by the HRB, which will explore the concept of Experts by Experience in Patient and Public Involvement and what this means.
The development of recommendations to assist in accessing and recruiting Experts by Experience will also be explored.
This interactive event will take places in SG05, Senior House, DCU All Hallows campus on Thursday 26th March, from 9.00am until 4.30pm.
Attendance is free but places are limited. You can register for the event via Eventbrite.
Keynote address will be by Dr. Alison Faulkner, survivor, researcher and trainer. Panel discussion members will be Martha Griffin, Expert by Experience, DCU; Patrick Nwaokorie, Area Lead Mental Health Engagement, HSE; Dr. Louise Hopper, Principal Investigator CAPTAIN Project, DCU; and Kara Madden, SAGE Representative and Patient Representative on Patient Safety Strategy 2019-2024. Closing address will be by Dr. Mary McGeown of the National Patient Safety Office, and Jim Walsh, Expert by Experience and Training and Development Officer for Irish Advocacy Network.
