Research Professorships

Dublin City University is currently offering three Research Professorships in three thematic areas prioritised by one of Ireland's largest government funding agencies, Science Foundation Ireland (SFI). The selected candidates will be elegible to apply to SFI for research funding of up to €5M to fund their research programmes for 5 years.

Candidate Profile:

Successful candidates will be outstanding researchers in academia or industry, recognised as one of the world-leaders in their discipline, with a demonstrated capacity for strategic and dynamic directorship on an international stage. A successful candidate will be expected to be an internationally recognised leader in the relevant field as determined by internationally recognised key perfomance indicators. 

Funding Available for the Candidates Research Programme

Recruited candidates will join DCU at an exciting time in the implementation of the University's new Research Strategy. In order to realise our ambitious research targets, the selected candidates will be elegible to apply to the SFI Research Professorship Scheme in SFI, which offers €1M per annum for up to five year duration to support the relevant research programme for the Professor and associated research group. Research Professor in Bioprocessing

Dublin City University is seeking to recruit a Research Professor in Bio-manufacturing with specific experience in bioprocessing and development of therapeutic proteins. The successful candidate will lead the development and enhancement of DCU’s research capabilities in the area and will build on its existing excellence in the National Institute for Cellular Biotechnology and the International Centre for Neurotherapeutics.

Research Professor in Data Analytics or Cybersecurity

Dublin City University is seeking to recruit a Research Professor in Data analytics or cyber security with specific experience in big data or cybersecurity. The successful candidate will lead the development and enhancement of DCU’s research capabilities in the area and will work closely with the INSIGHT research centre and the School of Computing..

Research Professor in Ageing, Independent Living

Dublin City University is seeking to recruit a Research Professor in Connected Health/Ageing with specific experience in assisted living technologies or the pyscho-social dimensions of ageing. The successful candidate will lead the development and enhancement of DCU’s research capabilities in the area and will build on its current activities in DCU’s Health Technologies, and the Healthy and Ageing Society Research and Enterprise Hub
