Jennifer Martyn, BA, MA, PhD, is Assistant Professor at Dublin City University. After completing an Irish Research Council funded PhD in Sociolinguistics and Second Language Acquisition at University College Dublin in 2016, where she was also a tutor and lecturer in the School of Languages, Cultures and Linguistics, she lectured in DIT (Kevin St) before joining SALIS in DCU in 2017. She currently lectures in applied French and linguistics. She is the co-editor of Language, Identity and Migration: Voices from Transnational Speakers and Communities (Peter Lang, 2016), and the forthcoming monograph Gender, Identity and Language Ideologies: Ethnographic Research in an Irish Secondary School (Multilingual Matters). She is an executive committee member of the Irish Association of Applied Linguistics.
She welcomes applications from prospective research students interested in applied linguistic projects relating to the sociolinguistics of language education and second language acquisition, language ideologies, gender and language learning, and the discursive construction of identity.
