Computer Access

Computer access is one of the first things you will need when you start in DCU. When you register, you will receive your DCU student email address and set your password and register with Multi Factor Authentification (MFA). This will allow you to log into DCU Apps, Loop, the wireless network (eduroam), printing, and computers on campus. Information Systems & Services (ISS) are responsible for the maintenance of the majority of PC labs across all campuses, with the exception being PC labs in the computing building. The link below provides room numbers and the type of access available, e.g. open access means any DCU students can login and use.

It is very important that you do not save any of your work on computers in the labs as all machine data is regularly wiped. Always back up your work to an external device or upload it to your DCU Apps account (drive). This will allow you to open files from other computers. There are multiple wireless internet access points in buildings across all campuses including student residences. ISS maintains computer accounts, passwords, printing, email, internet, PC and account maintenance, and supported software.

The ISS Service Desks: These desks are staffed by experts who are there to help you with IT related issues. There are multiple service desks on Glasnevin and St Patrick’s campus.

Location, contact details, and hours of opening can be found below:

Possible reasons why you would contact the ISS Service Desk include:

  • Problems with the computer you are using
  • Learn how to print, scan, or photocopy on campus
  • Issue with MFA
  • You have forgotten your password
  • Problems using a software package
