Student Assistance Fund 2019/2020

Third Level Access is co-funded by the Department of Education and Skills and the European Social Fund as part of the ESF Programme for Employability, Inclusion and Learning 2014-2020  

The Student Assistance Fund ​(SAF) is operated by Student Support & Development ​providing financial support to students who are experiencing short or long-term financial difficulties while attending higher education.  The SAF is co-funded by the Irish Government and the European Social Fund as part of the ESF Programme for Employability, Inclusion and Learning 2014-2020.

The fund is open to full-time and part-time students aimed at tackling educational disadvantage by providing financial support to those who may require additional financial support to enable them to fully benefit from their higher education. Students will be required to produce financial information to support their application for assistance. The Student Assistance fund cannot be used for exam or University fees purposes.

Due to high volumn of applications - Time is very limited in offering students assistance in completing applications or uploading of documentation.  This information is provided to assist you in completing your application fully and correctly

Should any new ruling be applied for the new year 2019/2020 by the EU the below information will be updated prior to the fund being open for applications


Eligibility Criteria

Required Supporting Documentation  Required documentation must be uploaded to applications prior to closing date

 As part of the application process, you are required to project your income + expenditure for the academic year (9 months) (Section included withn the application).  Click on sample budget to assist you in your calculations -

Applications will be online and a link will be provided in October here to apply

Successful applicants will be emailed on award together with being requested to upload bank account details on 'Loop' - Please see guide link for bank account instructions 



Students can have their application re-considered by the SAF committee if not satisfied with the outcome.
