Student Assistance Fund 2019/2020


Third Level Access is co-funded by the Department of Education and Skills and the European Social Fund as part of the ESF Programme for Employability, Inclusion and Learning 2014-2020  


The Student Assistance Fund ​(SAF) is operated by Student Support & Development ​providing financial support to students who are experiencing short or long-term financial difficulties while attending higher education.  The SAF is co-funded by the Irish Government and the European Social Fund as part of the ESF Programme for Employability, Inclusion and Learning 2014-2020.

The fund is open to full-time and part-time students aimed at tackling educational disadvantage by providing financial support to those who may require additional financial support to enable them to fully benefit from their higher education. Students will be required to produce financial information to support their application for assistance. The Student Assistance fund cannot be used for exam or University fees purposes.

Should any new ruling be applied for the new year 2019/2020 by the EU the below information will be updated prior to the fund being open for applications

Information/Guidelines

Eligibility Criteria     UPDATE 2019/2020 - Students who are non-EU nationals, but who are eligible for free or reduced fees in line with the criteria for the Free Fees Initiative, may be considered subject to meeting the relevant eligibility criteria.  Please read full 'Eligibility Criteria'.  Should this apply to you, please email Financial Administrator on how to apply (Online application for students under this category is not available online).

 As part of the application process, you are required to project your income + expenditure for the academic year (9 months) (Section included withn the application).  Click on sample budget to assist you in your calculations -

DCU Foodbank 

RAG is a student run volunteering society on campus. They aim to support as many people as possible within the local community, including students. They offer a weekly foodbank service to DCU students who are struggling to buy food.  To avail of this completely confidential service, mail ragdcufoodbank@gmail.com
