Academic biography

Andrew McCarren is a Professor and Head of the School of Computing (Faculty of Engineering and Computing) and a funded SFI investigator at the Rinn AI Centre. As a Principal Investigator on multiple SFI and Enterprise Ireland projects, his research focuses on applying data analytics and data mining to fintech, agriculture, food, EdTech, and human performance.

Andrew couples his academic work with over 20 years of practical experience in the electronic engineering, agricultural, and pharmaceutical industries, where he remains an active consultant. He teaches at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels and has served as a visiting data science professor at Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University in Saudi Arabia.
