The Artist and The City
This one-day symposium, programmed by DCU Arts Council Writer in Residence 2024, Aingeala Flannery, explores the artist’s relationship with the city, with a focus on North Dublin. Featuring a workshop, writing clinics with artists, readings, panel discussion, and a film screening. Guests include: Stephen James Smith, Luke McManus, Roisin Kiberd, Louise Nealon and Declan Toohey. DCU students, staff and the public are invited to immerse themselves in a day of literature and creativity.
It Happened Here - Writing about place workshop with Aingeala Flannery
A 90 minute interactive session on writing about place with DCU Writer in Residence Aingeala Flannery. Discussion, writing exercises, group participation. Limited to 12 participants.

Open Mic - Tales of the City
Open Mic Event: Lunchtime in the library.
Bite-sized readings, eight performers, five minutes each—when the bell rings, the mic moves! The event concludes with a special tour to the library balcony for a stunning view over Dublin’s Northside.

Campus Narratives - Readings and Discussion with novelist Juliana Adelman
What makes the college campus such fertile ground for stories? Three authors who’ve written about campus culture, Roisin Kiberd Louise Nealon, Declan Toohey read and discuss their work with historian and novelist Juliana Adelman.

North Circular - Film Screening
Join us for this special screening, hosted by Aingeala Flannery with a guest performance by Stephen James Smith, followed by a post-show discussion with director Luke McManus. "North Circular" is a multiple award-winning documentary musical that travels the length of Dublin's iconic North Circular Road, where local characters share powerful and moving stories, accompanied by traditional ballads and folk music.
