Illustrating Change

The exhibition was a joyful and excellent showcase of the collaborative efforts of all participants of a graphic book project. The event had a vibrant and celebratory atmosphere, reflecting the hard work and creativity of everyone involved. Attendees included project participants, DCU staff, Ballymun Youthreach, the Fighting Words team, a guest from
Dublin City Council who runs the UNESCO City of Literature, and representatives from Ghana.


The exhibition brought significant attention to the graphic book project. It featured contributions from a wide range of people, including a spoken word artist who captivated the audience with a powerful performance.
The Fighting Words team led empathy exercises, helping attendees connect deeply with the themes and characters of the graphic book.
Additionally, Knitstanbul joined the event via Zoom from Turkey, sharing their unique perspectives and creative insights, adding an international touch to our collaboration.


The exhibition highlighted the creative and educational achievements of the project, fostering a sense of community and shared accomplishment among all involved. It demonstrated how creative arts and community engagement can bring people together, bridge cultural divides, and inspire collective action. The positive response from attendees has laid a strong foundation for future projects, emphasising the importance of interdisciplinary and cross-cultural collaboration in educational initiatives.
