Immersion Education: Lessons from a Minority Language Context

Immersion Education: Lessons from a Minority Language Context

A new book by Prof Pádraig Ó Duibhir, Deputy Dean, is due to be published in the coming weeks. The book, Immersion Education: Lessons from a Minority Language Context, provides a comprehensive account of language immersion education in Ireland and internationally. Drawing on a number of research studies, it provides an analysis of the variety of Irish spoken by Irish-medium pupils in all-Irish schools. It discusses the role of all-Irish schools in extending the use of Irish at home and in society and makes proposals as to how this resource might be utilised more fully.

Pádraig gave an interview to Tuairisc last week where he discussed some of the research findings.
