DCU Fire Warden Course

Fire Warden

Trained Fire Wardens, who assist in the evacuation of buildings, are available in all areas of DCU Campus. The Health & Safety Office hosts training for new Fire Wardens twice annually. Training includes practical session on the use of fire extinguishers. Please contact the Health & Safety Office safety@dcu.ie to register your interest in participating in this course.

Course Duration: half day (three hours either morning or afternoon)

 

DCU Occupational First Aid Course

Mouth to Mouth

Members of the DCU Occupational First Aid team are located throughout all buildings on campus. From time to time vacancies arise in the team & the Health & Safety Office hosts First Aid Training on an as needed basis. On successful completion a practical and written examination, trainees are awarded nationally recognised certificate in Occupational First Aid. Please contact the Health & Safety Office safety@dcu.ie to register your interest in participating in this course.

Course duration: 3 days

Manual Handling 

Manhandling

Almost everyone on campus is involved in manual handling at some stage in their working week - so this course is for you.

This course is designed to provide you with the skills, advice and information necessary to ensure that you can organise your manual handling tasks (lifting /pushing/pulling etc) so as to avoid the strains, sprains and more serious injuries that can be associated with these activities

Following this course you will be able to;

  • Understand your back
  • Understand the principles of safe manual handling
  • Lift and handle loads safely

Course Duration: 2.5 hours
