DEIS Advisory Group for New DEIS Action Plan

Department of Education and Youth’s DEIS Advisory Group for New DEIS Action Plan

Professor Paul Downes, Director of DCU Educational Disadvantage Centre has been appointed to the Department of Education and Youth’s DEIS Advisory Group to inform the new National Action Plan on Poverty and Social Inclusion in Education.

The purpose of this group is to provide a structure to:

  • to progress the development and implementation of the new DEIS Plan
  • to provide advice on the implementation of actions under the plan 

The Advisory Group met with Minister for Education and Youth, Helen McEntee in the Department of Education on May 28th to discuss priority issues to be addressed in the new Action Plan. The current DEIS scheme has a budget in excess of €180 million. Minister McEntee has publicly stated her commitment to publish a new DEIS Action Plan by the end of 2025.
