Dr Philip O'Donnell

Dr Philip O'Donnell is Assistant Professor and AXA Postdoctoral Researcher at DCU Business School. Philip lectures in entrepreneurship and is a full member of the National Centre for Family Business. He completed his doctoral studies in entrepreneurship at the DCU Business School under the supervision of Prof Eric Clinton, Prof Colm O'Gorman and Prof Julio Castro.

 

Professional activities and research: Philip's research interest lies in resource-deprived entrepreneurship, i.e. ‘necessity entrepreneurship’, in the developing world, Africa in particular. Topics currently under investigation include livelihood strategies, economic informality and social capital. Recently, he has published his ‘necessity entrepreneurship’ findings in the prestigious Academy of Management Review
