DCU Centre for Family Business hosts its inaugural conference

On Wednesday 28th May, DCU Centre for Family Business hosted the first of its Legacy Series conferences, a series of thought-provoking events to engage current and next-generation family business members in exploring the requirements for trans-generational survival, growth and value creation.

Almost 200 delegates from family businesses and service firms attended the conference hosted by broadcaster and publisher Ms Norah Casey.

Ms Vanessa Diaz and Ms Catherine Faherty, both researchers with the DCU Centre for Family Business, presented a case study and learning model for family businesses which was followed by interactive discussions by the panel and the audience.

On the panel Dr Eric Clinton, Director of the DCU Centre for Family Business was joined by  Eamonn Quinn (Chairman, Kelsius Limited), Philip MacKeown (Family Director, Musgrave Group), Mike Glennon (Joint Managing Director, Glennon Brothers) and Annie Flahavan (Financial Controller, E. Flahavan & Sons Ltd) who all shared their wide-ranging experience of the challenges and opportunities facing family business and entrepreneurs.

‘Translating Irish and International research into practice and creating events like today where both academic and practical knowledge can be shared is one of the core goals of the centre. We are here, we are open and I welcome all family businesses to get involved’ said Dr Clinton.

The DCU Centre for Family Business will continue the Legacy Series in autumn 2014, please follow our website for the updates.
